The Rah-e-Amal School is a pilot project based on the basic concept of developing an education system in Pakistan which would be self sustained and funded primarily by the local community. It does not depend on the normal practice of obtaining donations from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or from the government.

The government and NGOs should spend their funds on bigger educational projects which are normally beyond the capacity of local community such as medical colleges along with associated hospitals and other institutions for higher education in the scientific field and research.

The ten years experience confirms the feasibility of promoting education up to intermediate level with the support of the local community. In this concept the main emphasis is on the support of local community volunteers. They should have the desire to impart education among the deprived segment of the society on honorary basis. Every locality and community is capable of supporting at least one school in their area. Of course some recurring expenses will be there for meeting the need of paying the hired teaching staff who are very much needed for providing necessary support to the volunteers. The contributions of the local community will also meet the expenses of providing nutrition and medical care. The philanthropic spirit of our Pakistani people is better than many nations. Once they find that the contributions are being utilized for a purpose with transparency, they willingly contribute towards the objective.

The success of the pilot project over more than ten years clearly proves that the concept can be promulgated all over Pakistan.

This is our vision.
